The Nigeria Premier League board in its bids to ensure that players’ welfare remains a priority has paid the entitlements of Lekan Gabriel, Joseph Eyimofe and Ochuko Ojobo – all former player of Sharks Football Club.
The media department of the NPL informed Naijaligue.blogspot.com that the three players got their outstanding debt worth N6.5 million in Abuja on Friday.
Presenting the cheque to players, the Acting Executive Secretary of the NPL, Tunji Babalola, expressed optimism that the league board is determined to maintain and fulfill its obligation as regard welfare of players and officials.
“I like to state here that this board is determined to bring change and total turnaround of the Premier League,” said Babalola.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Gabriel expressed happiness and thanked the NPL for fulfilling its promise.
“I am very happy today (Friday) and delighted that the NPL have paid us our entitlements and I give God the glory for this kind gesture,” said Gabriel.
Also, agent of the players, Aminu Yusuf, maintained that the new board should take the bull by its horns in the administration of the Premier League.
“I am very delighted today for this wonderful effort of the NPL board lead by Mr. Davison Owumi for taking this bold step in fulfillment of the entitlement of these players,” said Yusuf.
