Baraje in line to assist Eguma at Dolphin

Zachary Baraje is favoured to become the assistant to Dolphin Football Club head coach, Stanley Eguma, ahead of the 2010/2011 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.
A top official of the club informed SuperSport.com on Friday that Baraje, who was an assistant to Solomon Ogbeide at Sunshine Stars last term before he was sacked along with his boss, is already in Port Harcourt ahead of officially signing the deal.
Baraje’s name came up for mention at the committee saddled with appointing a new chief coach at Dolphin after Ndubuisi Nduka resigned in the current off-season to join newly-promoted Plateau United.
“As I speak to you, Zachary Baraje is in Port Harcourt. He is favoured to replace Ndubuisi Nduka as chief coach while Stanley Eguma remains the manager and technical adviser of the team. So Baraje will be working as an assistant to Eguma,” the official revealed.
Few days ago, Baraje had been touted as one of the favourites to land the head coach job at Gombe United after their coach, Ben Duamlong, surprisingly resigned before the start of the coming season.
However, another coach, Emeka Ezeugo, who was fired by Heartland Football Club a few weeks ago, is also interested in the same job that Baraje is jostling for.
But SuperSport.com learnt that Eguma recommended Baraje to the committee that is expected to appoint a replacement for the vacant chief coach position at the Port Harcourt club.
“Apart Baraje, Ezeugo is also interested in the job. But I am not sure he will get it because Eguma personally wants Baraje to work with him,” said the Dolphin official.
