The rescheduled Nigeria Premier League (NPL) game between Warri Wolves and Ocean Boys will hold at the Warri City Stadium in spite of the re-run of governorship election billed for Thursday in the south-south Nigerian state of Delta.
The game between Warri Wolves and Ocean Boys was earlier scheduled to hold among Week 8 matches of December 22 before it was called off following the death of Ocean Boys’ left-back, Emmanuel Ogoli, few days to the clash.
Spokesman of the club, Timi Ebikagboro, told SuperSport.com that the match will go on as planned in spite of Thursday’s re-run of the Delta State governorship election.
“The election (for the governorship candidates) will hold on Thursday while Warri Wolves’ game will take place on Wednesday. So the match will go on as scheduled,” Ebikagboro said.
Wednesday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the two sides since 2008.
Last season, Warri Wolves won this same fixture by two-nil courtesy of goals from the duo of Efe Yarhere and Fengor Ogude.
But the latter has since moved abroad while Yarhere is still listed for this season’s campaign for Wolves.
Surprisingly, Ocean Boys, who are 2006 champions of Nigeria, are yet to win a game against Warri Wolves in their last four meetings in the Premier League since 2008.
