Nigeria yet to write Kano Pillars on Yusuf

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Kano Pillars, have said that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to officially notify them on the appointment of Salisu Yusuf as an assistant coach in the country’s men national team.
Chairman of Kano Pillars, Babangida Tukur, revealed that there has been no official word from the Nigerian FA since Yusuf was named one of the assistant coaches to Samson Siasia in December.
“No, the Nigeria Football Federation has not contacted us yet. We have not heard from them but we have read in the newspapers that our coach has been appointed as one of the assistants to the national team,” disclosed the Kano Pillars’ boss.
On shopping for a replacement for Yusuf, the Kano Pillars’ chief said there are no immediate plans in the offing.
He added that one of the backroom staff, who has assisted Yusuf, since the start of the season is capable of taking charge of the side in the absence of the new Nigerian assistant coach.
But Tukur did not give any name of who will likely succeed Yusuf in the event of his exit from Kano Pillars.
“We have very good coaches who have been assisting Salisu Yusuf. So we will just pick one of them to handle the team. Remember that Salisu was assistant to Kadiri Ikhana when we won the Premier League and when he left after that season, another coach took over till he came back after his stay at Lobi Stars,” said Tukur.
Tukur, however, made it clear that Kano Pillars will not block Yusuf’s ambition to join the setup of the Nigerian men’s national team after he was picked as one of Siasia’s assistants.
