Enyimba reach Champions League semis

Enyimba stunned their Sudanese hosts on Friday night at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman by 2 - 1.

But the two-time African champions had to battle from behind after Edward Sadomba gave the home side a five-minute lead.

Sadomba in the reverse fixture had scored a double to secure a point for Al-Hilal in a 2-2 draw in July.

But just over the hour-mark Enyimba left-back Valentine Nwabili pulled his side level before midfielder Samuel Chukwudi secured all points at the death from the spot.

With the win Enyimba are now five points clear at the top of Group A with 11 points after five games while Al-Hilal, Coton Sport FC de Garoua of Cameroon and Raja Casablanca of Morocco are in second, third and fourth respectively.

The Peoples Elephant are also unbeaten in the group stage of the Caf Champions League and head coach, Okey Emordi, is keen to see his side continue in same red-hot form.

"It is good to win here (at Al-Hilal). Now we are in the semifinals and the pressure has eased. But we want to continue giving our best like this," Emordi told SuperSport.com.

Enyimba will round off their preliminary games on September 18 when they play host to Coton Sport FC de Garoua in Aba.
