Nigerian champions, Enyimba for the third time in 12 days suffered another defeat.
This time the Peoples Elephant were beaten 1-2 by Kwara United at the Ilorin Township Stadium in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier League (NPL) match on Thursday.
Enyimba head coach, Okey Emordi opted to leave out a handful of first-team players such as goalkeeper Paul Godwin, Otekpa Eneji, Olabiyi Rasheed, Uche Kalu and Josiah Maduabuchi among others for the trip to Ilorin.
The plan to rotate his squad did not pay off, as Segun Atere got Kwara United's opening goal inside the half hour.
Isiaka Olawale doubled the lead for the hosts with 15 minutes left to play with a superb finish.
With a minute to full time, Ifeanyi Ede got a consolation for the champions, who suffered a third defeat on the bounce in all competitions this season.
Enyimba were beaten in the Federation Cup final by Heartland on September 25 and last weekend lost in the Caf Champions League semifinal first leg to Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.
The Peoples Elephant still remain ninth on the NPL standings while Kwara United are now in 10th position.
Emordi's men are scheduled to face Enugu Rangers on Sunday in another league game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
