Kwara Utd appoint Sanni as head coach

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Kwara United, opted to name Tunde Sanni as their head coach for the 2011/2012 season.

Sanni was the first-team coach under immediate past head coach, Kadiri Ikhana, who has reportedly decided to retire from coaching.

SuperSport.com was informed by a club official that Sanni was considered for the top job by the management of Kwara United since he was part of the backroom staff in last season’s campaign.

“Tunde Sanni has been elevated to become the head coach of the team by the club management following the departure of Kadiri Ikhana. The coaching staff of the team remain unchanged except for Ikhana who left.

“Part of the conditions given to the new head coach is to rebuild a strong team that will compete for the league. And the club will be reviewing his contract based on the performance of the team in the new season,” the official disclosed to SuperSport.com over telephone on Friday morning.

Sanni's first assignment is taking charge of an open trial session organised by the club from Monday in Ilorin for players keen to join the Kwara United setup.

Kwara United finished in ninth position of the final standings for 2010/2011 season after amassing 53 points from 38 games.
