Bashir's hat-trick lifts Enyimba

Enyimba kicked off their Glo Premier League pre-season tournament with a 3-0 win after new signing Abdulrahman Bashir (pictured) scored all three goals against Bayelsa United on Friday.

After the opening 40 minutes of the first match of the pre-season tournament went without a goal inside the National Stadium in Abuja, Bashir struck with a sweet finish.

Bashir side-footed Thomas Zenke's cross past Bayelsa United goalkeeper, Gambo Gideon, for the opening goal on 42 minutes.

That goal gave the two-time African champions, Enyimba, a one-goal lead into the first half.

Twenty-three minutes into the restart, Bashir was on hand to knock home his second of the day and Enyimba's second.

Bashir first shook off the challenge of Ebinipre Dengo and then lobbed the ball over Gideon for a superb finish as Enyimba cruised intoa two-goal lead.

The former ABS man rounded off his performance for Enyimba with a third goal on 73 minutes after dribbling Gideon before tapping home.

But Bashir had to make way for Sibi Gwar after he suffered a knock five minutes later, however, his contribution was enough to steer Enyimba to a three-nil win over Bayelsa United.

Enyimba face Warri Wolves while Bayelsa United go up against Kano Pillars on Day Two of the tournament.
