Wolves down Kano Pillars


Warri Wolves defeated Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars 2-0 in the second game of Day One of the Glo Premier League pre-season in Abuja on Friday.

Both teams played a larger spell of the match under rainy conditions at the National Stadium.

Wolves were quicker out of the blocks and nearly got in front inside five minutes when the efforts of Musa Najare and Kola Anubi came off the woodwork.

On 35 minutes, Anubi squeezed a shot past underneath of Kano Pillars goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai from Najare's assist.

Michael Egbeta, Daddy Bazuaye, Najare and Anubi were constant threats to a leggy Kano Pillars side without key men, injured Gambo Muhammad and Rabiu Ali, who is away on international duty.

Wolves kept knocking on the door for a second goal and deservedly got it in the third minute of added time through Efe Yarhere's deflected goal off a free kick.

The Glo Premier League pre-season tournament continues this Sunday with two matches.
