Six-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba, are now in pole position to win the 2013/14 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Pre-Season Tournament in Abuja.

The Aba club defeated Warri Wolves 2-0 on Sunday with Abdulrahman Bashir and Emeka Nwanna scoring in each half.

Enyimba looked comfortable from the outset of the match and deservedly took the lead on 11 minutes through Bashir.

Mfon Udoh whipped in a superb cross from the right which Bashir met with his head but Wolves goalkeeper Ambrose Vanzekin touch to the ball was not enough to keep it out.

Wolves' afternoon got worse when their only hope going forward Musa Najare was shown a straight red card for a silly challenge on Emma Anyanwu.

As if that was not enough, Wolves head coach, Paul Aigbogun was forced to replace injured Daddy Bazuaye with Efe Yarhere after just 28 minutes.

Though Wolves lost their attacking threat, Enyimba failed to make the numerical advantage count as the game petered out into half time.

Aigbogun threw on Stanley Dimgba in the restart and he sparked life into Wolves' play leading to Enyimba captain Markson Ojobo getting a second booking for his reckless challenge on Michael Egbeta.

However Enyimba made the sending off of Ojobo count for nothing as Nwanna came off the bench to plant home the insurance goal from a Michael Okoyoh assist.

Enyimba now lead the table of the pre-season tournament on six points while Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars are both on three apiece.

The People's Elephant face Kano Pillars in a decisive game on Tuesday needing a point to be crowned pre-season champions while Wolves go up against Bayelsa United on same day.
