A Federal High Court sitting in Jos has ordered the League Management Company (LMC) to halt the expulsion of "further preventing or further excluding" Giwa FC from taking part in the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.
The suit filed by one Funky Odigie on Tuesday prayed for the court to restrain LMC from excluding Giwa FC from the league and "further organising matches for the Premier League Clubs in Nigeria pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice."
The ex parte motion also wanted the "Nigeria Premier League matches" discontinued until the case is heard.
The presiding judge of the court, Ambrose Allagoa, granted the applicant an order of interim injunction to stop the LMC and the NFF from excluding Giwa FC from taking part in the Glo Premier League "pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice."
However, there was no order from the court to suspend league matches from continuing as prayed for in the applicant's motion.
The court adjourned the matter to March 27, 2014 to hear the Motion on Notice.
The case with suit number FHC/J/CS/21/2014 has Nduka Irabor, Salihu Abubakar, the LMC, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Federal Ministry of Sports and Giwa FC as defendants.
