Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Warri Wolves defeated Union Sportive de Douala 3-2 at the Omnisport Stadium in Douala, Cameroon in a first round, first leg tie of the Caf Confederation Cup on Saturday.
Musa Najare, Oghenekaro Etebo and Ikechukwu Ibenegbu scored for Wolves while Patrick Ngoula Ngoula and Ivan Mengaptone got the goals for Union Douala.
Wolves got the possible best start to the game when Najare scored on 12 minutes from a Stanley Dimgba assist.
Three minutes later, Ngoula pounced to score the leveller for the hosts to put the game at 1-1 inside the opening quarter of an hour.
On the half hour mark, Union Douala earned themselves a penalty but Wolves goalkeeper, Okiemute Odah did well to save Moundi Djengue's spot kick.
Ten minutes to the break, Oghenekaro Etebo found himself in good space and rifled home a second goal for Wolves.
Wolves took the lead into the break and ensured that they kept it at 2-1 for 40 minutes in the business end of the contest.
Mengaptone rose highest in the box to nod Union Douala back on level terms with 10 minutes to the end of the game.
And just as the tempo of the game began to wear out, Wolves new signing, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, cracked a 30-yard shot past Union Douala goalkeeper, Ande Derick Fru for the match winner.
What a time for Ibenegbu to score his first goal since completing a move from Heartland in the off-season.
Warri Wolves will play hosts to Union Douala in the return leg at the Warri City Stadium next weekend.
Good one .. Am so happy for Wolves
