Ahead of Sunday’s game, Dolphin Football Club has declared that it would wear black armbands for its former player, Endurance Idahor, who died last Saturday during a Sudanese league game for El-Merreikh.
Spokesman of the club, China Acheru, that the arrangement to wear black armbands once again after doing same on Wednesday against Kwara United in Ilorin is to show respect to the late footballer.
Acheru stated that the gesture to continue to honour the late Idahor is due to his contribution while at Dolphin Football Club, which was when the Port Harcourt club won the title in 2004.
Players and officials of the club present at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt are expected to wear black armbands, according to the Dolphin FC media officer.
“In Sunday’s game against Zamfara United, our players and officials will wear black armbands as well as we continue to mourn our former player, Endurance Idahor who passed on last weekend in Sudan ,” Acheru informed in a statement to Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
Before the match kicks off on Sunday, players of Dolphin FC and Zamfara United would observe a minute silence in honour of the late attacker.
“Also there will be one minute silence observed before the match in his honour,” the club’s image-maker said.
