Heartland, Yehuda In Talks Over Ibenegbu

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Heartland Football Club, has opened discussion on selling one of its midfielders, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, to Israeli side, Bnei Yehuda.
Naijaligue.blogspot.com understands that Ibenegbu, who is already in Israel for trials, has impressed the officials of Bnei Yehuda and the club is set to pursue a deal and sign a pre-contract agreement with the Israeli club, which also has another Nigerian, goalkeeper Bamidele Aiyenugba, on its payroll.
It is understood that Ibenegbu, 24, has agreed personal terms with Bnei Yehuda but is waiting on Heartland to give the greenlight and allow him to join the club in the summer transfer window.
It is also believed that an official of the Naze Millionaires has been discussing on telephone with a representative of Bnei Yehuda since the start of this week on the possibility of buying out the contract of the former El-Kanemi Warriors from Heartland.
“An official of Heartland has been talking to Israeli club, Bnei Yehuda, about selling Ikechukwu Ibenegbu. The player left the country a few days ago and has impressed the officials of the Israeli club and we believe that he has even agreed to join them. But the delay in signing a deal is that the club is still negotiating with Heartland on how much it wants for the player.
“At the moment, I cannot really that Heartland is demanding for certain amount. But when things get cleared I will inform you. For now, no deal has been agreed between the two clubs except that Ikechukwu has agreed that he wants to join Bnei Yehuda,” a source in Owerri informed during the week.
When our correspondent spoke to the club’s team manager, Emeka Iwuagwu, on the development and Heartland’s plan to sell the former Enyimba midfielder, he confirmed that the talks opened this week.
Iwuagwu added that the Owerri-based Premier League outfit is still waiting on the Israeli club to respond to its proposal but did not disclose the extent of discussion between the two sides.
“Yes, we are in talks with them (Bnei Yehuda). They spoke to us on Monday and they said they will get back to us and we hope that by this weekend we will hear from them,” he told Naijaligue.blogspot.com.
