After investigating the activities of its supporters’ club chairman, Ibrahim Ahmed Katun and four others, the management of Niger Tornadoes has decided to expel them from any programme involving the club in future.
Rising from an emergency executive meeting last week to carry out inquiry into the activities of the supporters’ club, the Niger Tornadoes’ board decided to sack Katun and the four supporters – Abdulrasheed Yusuf, Danlami Ibrahim, Dantshoho Hussaini and Suleiman Dantshoho – fingered in the attack on the centre referee during a league game against Bayelsa United in Minna.
The club also officially apologised to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Nigeria Premier League (NPL) and the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA).
It also promised to ensure that the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna would not witness such violent act again.
Chairman of the club, Suleiman David, told Naijaligue.blogspot.com that the Minna side would not condone such act from supporters of the club since it is out to stamp out hooliganism at its home ground.
