Nigerian champion, Enyimba, on Saturday fell by 0 – 4 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16 to Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) of Zambia in Lusaka .
Zanaco scored all four goals in the first half at the Sunset Stadium in Lusaka .
It took just 120 seconds for the home side to break down the former African champion through defender George Chilufya before forward Matthews Macha doubled the lead three minutes later.
Three minutes before the hour-mark, Ignatius Lwipa scored the third goal and his strike-partner, Winston Kalengo, completed the rout a minute from half-time.
Enyimba, however, fought back in the restart with no breakthrough, thereby leaving the Aba club with a mountain to climb in a fortnight when it plays host at the Enyimba Sports Stadium.
But the Peoples Elephant’s loss may not be unconnected with the players’ demand for the payment of their contract fees for the just-concluded Premier League season.
The team also arrived in Lusaka less than 24 hours before Saturday’s clash and in two batches, Naijaligue.blogspot.com can reveal.
