With the Super Four entering Day Two, Premier League champion, Enyimba, has revealed that it is missing the services of five key players due to injuries and national team assignment.
Assistant coach of the club, Samson Unuanel, disclosed to journalists in Ijebu Ode during Wednesday’s post-match conference that the Peoples Elephant has lost three players to injuries while two are currently with the national team on international assignment.
“We came to this competition a bit handicapped,” began Unuanel, who is in talks to join Kwara United for next season. “Right now, five of our best players are not part of this team because three of them are injured and two are with the national team. But it has not affected us, as you can see because there are new players waiting to get their chance to play for the team.”
Enyimba started off the Super Four tournament with a side full of new faces except for first team members such as Ofem Inah, Mustapha Musa, Kenneth Anyanwu, Philip Auta, Okey Odita, Cletus Itodo and Atanda Sakibu.
However, influential players such as Uche Kalu, Osamudiamen Idehen, Gabriel Reuben, Josiah Maduabuchi and Valentine Nwabili were missing from the line-up of Wednesday’s lone goal win over Sunshine Stars of Akure.
