Ekigho, Okonkwo lead NPL Week 15 team

Two of the players named in the Nigerian side for the international friendly against Sierra Leone on Wednesday in Lagos made their way into the Team of the Week of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
The two players are Ehiosun Ekigho (pictured) of Warri Wolves and Chibuzor Okonkwo of Heartland.
The Premier League also adopted a 3-3-1-3 formation for this week’s team.
Ehiosun clearly made the team following his hat-trick against Sharks last weekend, which is the first to be scored this season by any player in the topflight.
Okonkwo was picked due to his performance at right-back for Heartland against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC). But he will function as one of the three defenders in a three-man backline.
Apart from the duo, Enyimba and Wolves provided more personnel to the side with three men each.
The champions, Enyimba, produced the coach in Okey Emordi as well as two playing personnel in Rasheed Olabiyi and Atanda Sakibu following their side’s 2 – 1 away win at Crown Football Club last Sunday.
Goalkeeper Ambrose Vanzekin and Azubuike Egwuekwe joined Ekigho as players from Wolves. Egwuekwe also makes his second appearance for a straight second week.
The surprise addition in this week’s team is Niger Tornadoes’ midfield enforcer, Shehu Sabole, for his box-to-box performance against Gombe United last Saturday.
Others in the team are Festus Austin of Dolphins and Kadiri Aminu of Bukola Babes, who takes up the supporting striker’s role behind the three strikers.
The Ghanaian duo of Owusu Addae of Dolphins and James Amankwei of Jos University Teaching Hospital (Juth) FC complete the team.
