League restart put on hold

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has postponed the restart of the second stanza of this season’s campaign.
The second stanza which is supposed to start on Wednesday has now been postponed indefinitely because of the riots in some northern parts of the country.
According to the acting chairman of the NPL, Shehu Gusau, the lives of players and officials must be safeguarded.
“We don’t have any choice but to postpone the restart of the second stanza. The reports we are hearing is not good and we cannot jeopardise the lives of the players and officials.
“That is why we are postponing the commencement of the second round until we feel the time is right,” said Gusau.
