Ocean are afraid of Enyimba – Olabiyi

Midfielder Rasheed Olabiyi has taken an aim at Ocean Boys ahead of Sunday’s Federation Cup semifinal saying the Bayelsa-based side are afraid of Enyimba.

Olabiyi told SuperSport.com on Saturday morning: “They should be afraid of Enyimba. They know what it takes to play Enyimba. So they should be afraid of us.”

The statement of Olabiyi, a former apprentice at the Pepsi Football Academy, is coming just hours after it was reported that Ocean Boys head coach, Samson Unuanel is worried that his side could suffer defeat due to an ongoing players’ strike that has grounded training schedule for over a week.

It is apparent that Olabiyi’s confidence stems from the two-legged Premier League games between Enyimba and Ocean Boys this season.

On November 7, the Peoples Elephant defeated Ocean Boys by a lone goal scored by John Chukwudi at the Enyimba Sports Complex in Aba.

In the second league game of the season on May 15, Enyimba held the Divine Warriors to a goalless draw at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Olabiyi, 21, is confident that Enyimba will reach their third consecutive cup final after Sunday’s semifinal clash with Ocean Boys at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

“I believe we will make it to the final by God’s grace. We want to win it (the Federation Cup) this time after we lost last year to Kaduna United,” said the midfielder, who joined Enyimba as a schoolboy in 2007.

Enyimba have reached the final of the last two editions of the Federation Cup in 2009 and 2010.

In 2009, the Peoples Elephant defeated Sharks by a lone goal at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos to emerge champions.

But last year, Enyimba lost in the cup final to Kaduna United via penalties after a 3 – 3 draw in open play after 120 minutes.
